Cub Scout Ranks

What is a Cub?

A cub is a child who is participating in the cub scout program.

What is a Rank?

Cub Scout ranks are badges that indicate the level of achievement and skills of a Cub Scout. (Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos)

A den is a group of Cub Scouts who are in the same grade working toward the same rank.

What is a Den?

A cub scout pack is made up of several dens under the same charter organization. Pack 40’s charter organization is Saint Kateri Church.

THE ADVANCEMENT TRAIL

On the advancement trail, a Cub Scout progresses towards a badge of rank based on their grade. They need not have earned the previous rank in order to earn the next.  Each of the ranks in Cub Scouting has its own requirements that are age appropriate, so earning a rank below a Cub Scout’s current grade is not permitted. As a Cub Scout advances through the ranks, the requirements get more challenging, to match the new skills and abilities they have learned.

Den leaders along with volunteer parents lead each lesson and prepare related activities. Dens meet one to two times a month at a local location to complete each activity/lesson. Den meetings are separate from Pack meetings. Each rank requirements, based on your child’s grade level, are listed below. Our Cub Scouts Pack 40 dens meet in various locations throughout Santa Clarita.
